Paul’s second and third missionary trips gave us insight to how he moved from place to place preaching Jesus Christ, building churches, and facing opposition with courage. His example teaches us that the Gospel doesn’t stop because of rejection; it keeps moving until it reaches those who are ready to receive it.
I also want you to remember the difference between John’s baptism and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. John’s baptism was a call to repentance, but baptism in Jesus’ name brings us into new life through the infilling of the Holy Ghost. That’s what completes our salvation and gives us power to walk upright before God.
Finally, as we looked at Apollos — we see that he was a man who was sincere and knowledgeable in Scripture but he needed more understanding. Aquila and Priscilla took time to teach him, and once he received truth, he became even more effective for the kingdom. Saints, that’s our mission too — to help others come into the full knowledge of truth with love and patience, just as someone once helped us.
Key Verse
“Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.”
— Acts 19:4
Points to Remember
• The book of Acts reveals the blueprint for evangelism — beginning at home and reaching outward.
• Paul’s persistence shows that rejection never stops the Gospel; it redirects it.
• Apollos’ story reminds us that zeal without full understanding still needs teaching and truth.
• John’s baptism pointed to Christ, but baptism in Jesus’ name brings life through Christ.
• The Holy Ghost is the seal of true conversion and power for ministry.
Bible Study Reflection:
When have you met someone sincere about their faith but lacking full understanding — and how did you respond?
Are you growing in knowledge yourself so you can rightly explain the truth to others?
Bible Study Reflection
The church’s mission today mirrors Paul’s — to take the Gospel beyond comfort zones. Every believer must be grounded in the Word and filled with the Spirit to defend the faith and disciple others. Like Aquila and Priscilla, we must be willing to come alongside those who are eager but uninformed, teaching them with grace and truth. Understanding the difference between repentance and rebirth reminds us that salvation is not only about turning from sin but being transformed by the Holy Ghost.
Grace be unto you.
